Despite what some earlier rumors claimed, Chelsea and Monaco have not agreed to a swap deal in order for Chelsea to acquire Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile. Graham Potter, the head coach of Chelsea, was looking to strengthen his injury-plagued backline in the January transfer window with both Wesley Fofana and Reece James out with injuries when Badiashile surfaced as a top priority.

According to a report from The Athletic, the Blues and France international Badiashile have reached a personal agreement. Badiashile is expected to sign a long-term contract with the west London giants, and a medical appointment is expected to be set up soon.

According to reports, the Stamford Bridge team would pay £33.6 million to acquire the 21-year-old center back, which is a little less than Monaco had hoped to receive, but the parameters of the deal would benefit the Ligue 1 team.
