‘Brҽaking’: Chelsea could overtake Arsenal to sign wonderkid as ‘Shevchenko’s heir’

Chelsea have added Arsenal transfer target Mykhailo Mudryk to their shortlist ahead of the January window, with the Blues having failed in an attempt to hijack Liverpool’s move for Cody Gakpo.

The Stamford Bridge team, after spending a record amount on transfers in the summer, is rumored to want to improve their offensιve options over the coming month.

Although Chelsea has already signed David Datro Fofana from Molde and has a deal in place to sign RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku in the summer, the first-team roster may soon gain an oven-ready addition.

Murdyk is one player that they have prioritized adding to their shortlist, according to the Guardian.

Since the summer, Arsenal has been said to be in the lead in the race to sign the Ukraιne international, but they have been deterred by Shakhtar Donetsk’s steadfast attitude on a transfer fee.

The Ukrainians have hinted that they believe Mudryk is worth the same amount as Jack Grealish, who left Aston Villa for Manchester City in 2021 for €118 million. While they acknowledge that receiving a comparable sum is improbable, they have up to this point stuck to their asking price of roughly €100 million. As Mudryk had previously expressed his displeasure with the high asking price of his club, it had been anticipated that Shakhtar would sell for roughly €60 million in January.

However, Arsenal’s approach for the player, who is said to be worth around €62 million, was turned down, perhaps giving Chelsea the opportunity to pounce with a higher deal.

Enzo Fernandez: Benfica manager unsure over future after Chelsea bid

Roger Schmidt, the manager of Benfica, has said that he is unaware of whether World Cup champion Enzo Fernandez played his final match for the team on Friday.

On the same day that it was disclosed that Fernandez had told Benfica he wants to move to Chelsea this window, Fernandez played 89 minutes of the surprιsing 3-0 loss to Braga against predictions that he would sit on the bench.

Benfica is adamant that Fernandez will not be sold for less than his €120 million release clause, which must be paid in full. Chelsea, however, is working on a deal that would see them pay more than that amount over time, following the same strategy they used to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, who will join in the summer.

Schmidt addressed the media following the game: “I don’t know if that was his last game for Benfica. He is a great player, has been doing great, and has a strong sense of loyalty to the team.

“Decisions must occasionally be made by players as a result of events. What transpires in the upcoming weeks will be seen.

Chelsea is confident that they can reach a deal with Benfica, according to sources who spoke to 90min. Personal terms have already been agreed upon in principle with Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, who is also trying to persuade the Portuguese team to discuss selling a player who only cost them €10 million during the summer.

Despite their firm stance, Benfica is reportedly considering Maximo Perrone of Velez Sarsfield as a replacement for Fernandez.

World Cup winner agrees to join Chelsea

Tuesday saw Graham Potter’s team triumph as they returned to Premier League play, defeating Bournemouth 2-0 to snap a record of five league games without a victory.

Potter will probably view the encounter as a good opportunity to build on the Blues’ triumph against The Cherries. The Blues now take on a Forest team that was defeated by Manchester United their most recent outing.

In the interim, it appears that Chelsea may soon sign one of the most talented young athletes in the world.

Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez has agreed to join the team, according to Metro.

According to the source, Chelsea and the player’s current club, Benfica, are now in talks about a potential trade.

The player’s £106 million release clause was previously imposed upon by the Portuguese club, which is thought to have put off clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United.

Since Fernandez’s impressive World Cup performance, for which he won the Young Player of the Tournament title, several clubs are rumored to have expressed interest in him. However, the Blues have persuaded the player to join them at Stamford Bridge, and they must now strive to reach an agreement with his present team.

The Premier League team is hoping that the player’s prior agreement with them will persuade Benfica to accept a reduced asking price.

The 21-year-old Fernandez has already made 25 appearances for Benfica this season across all competitions, excelling particularly in the Champions League.

According to reports, the player was already on the radar of several elite European clubs before the World Cup in Qatar, and the interest in him has grown as a result of his achievements there.

Given the uncertainty surrounding N’Golo Kante and Jorginho’s futures at the club, Chelsea manager Potter will be eager to add at least one midfielder to his team in the upcoming months.

The upcoming season will see both of the midfielders’ contracts expire, and with Mateo Kovacic’s recent history of injuries adding to the uncertainty, Chelsea will probably aim to add at least two new midfielders.
