Cristiano Ronaldo is now a free agent after having been released by Man United by mutual agreement.
That means any club, including Chelsea, can sign him on a free transfer in the January transfer window.
The Blues are among the clubs that can afford his huge wages and were strongly linked to a move for him in the summer.
Todd Boehly still sees an appeal in signing Ronaldo and could go for it if Graham Potter gives his go-ahead for the deal.
Here we look at two ways Chelsea can line up with the Portuguese sensation.
Potter seems to see the 3-4-2-1 formation as his go-to system at Chelsea. If he continues with that, then it would probably be ideal for Ronaldo to be played as the no.9 rather than behind the main striker.
He might be a 37-year-old, but the Portuguese star is still very clinical and knows how to score goals from around the penalty box. He could fix Chelsea’s goal issues and be a strong alternative to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the centre-forward role.
