It has been stated that Chelsea are willing to part ways with Romelu Lukaku in order to generate sufficient funds to pursue the acquisition of Denzel Dumfries.
Calciomercato reports that Todd Boehly will give serious consideration to selling Lukaku permanently to Inter Milan in the hopes that Dumfries will move in the opposite direction.
All About Foot
The upper management at Stamford Bridge is said to have been monitoring the performance of the Dutch international both before and during the World Cup.
His efforts up until the quarter-final exit drew the attention of various experts, including Micah Richards’ ‘breathless’ appraisal of the 26-year-old player. His exit came after he was eliminated from the competition.
It is very evident that the Blues, as well as his current employers, consider him to be an invaluable asset.
The chain of command at Inter has placed a price tag of £51 million on the wing-head, back’s so it is clear that they have no intention of letting him depart without a fight.
As the club looks to tighten their budgetary reins at least until the month of January’s transfer market, this value may discourage some of Dumfries’ potential suitors.
Nevertheless, such a price tag is not likely to dissuade Boehly from going after the top awards.
In particular, if he is able to reduce Inter’s valuation of the defender by selling Lukaku for a few pence more than they currently value him at, he will be successful.
After enduring a disappointing debut campaign with the Blues in South West London, the record-breaking acquisition for Chelsea is currently on loan at his former venue, the San Siro.
However, considering that Boehly appears to be pushing for the striker to leave the league permanently, it is possible that there will be no opportunity for redemption in the Premier League.
Chelsea can copy Man United’s Endrick transaction after missing out
Chelsea are reportedly searching for a new star after missing out on Brazilian wonderkid Endrick, who is likely to join Real Madrid.
Despite Chelsea’s interest, the 16-year-old Palmeiras youngster will join Los Blancos for roughly €60million (£51.4m). Todd Boehly, who wants to sign top young footballers, won’t give up.
The Mirror reports that the Blues are seeking to utilize Jorge Mendes to recruit 18-year-old Benfica star Diego Moreira in the summer. Football.london profiled adolescent sensation Moreira.
The Chelsea prospect started his career in Liege, Belgium. Benfica signed Moreira in 2020 after his youth career with Standard Liege.
Moreira, born in Belgium, plays for Portugal Under-18s. One goal in eight U18 caps.
He debuted for Benfica Under-23s in 2020/21. He became a regular and was promoted to Benfica’s B team in 2021/22. Moreira made his senior debut on May 13 when Nelson Verissimo called him up.
Boehly, who became the club’s co-owner in May, is still committed to youth development. The American wants to continue Chelsea’s academy success.
Neil Bath, Chelsea’s director of football development and operations, discussed “Vision 2030”: “The following seasons and how we may improve will soon be our emphasis. Our Vision 2030 approach is key to this.”
Bath: “We’ve presented this proposal to Todd Boehly and the new owners in several meetings, and they’ve been very supportive. We’re pleased to launch a new age with these fresh ideas, technologies, and tactics thanks to Roman Abramovich’s sponsorship. Chelsea Academy is exciting.”
Chelsea have signed Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, Omari Hutchinson, and Gabriel Slonina under Boehly. After losing Endrick, they hope Moreira will join this list.
Manchester United has had success buying young Portuguese players. See Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani, who, albeit less successful than Ronaldo, were outstanding signings under Sir Alex Ferguson.
