Romano officially confirms, Chelsea is about to welcome ‘new king’ of Portugal as ‘new Midas’

Joao Felix, a forward now playing for Atletico Madrid, has asked his agency, Jorge Mendes, to put him in touch with potential new clubs, and Chelsea is one of the teams that has done so.

There has been speculation that both Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech could leave Stamford Bridge in the upcoming transfer window, which could put the Blues in the market for a new attacking player.

When a player is lost in January, the most difficult challenge is typically to find a good replacement for that player. It is easy to understand why teams are hesitant to let go of their players, particularly their best and brightest assets in the middle of the season.

This time around, on the other hand, a high-profile attacker might be available, albeit at a very expensive price.

Romano claims that Felix has expressed an interest in leaving Atletico Madrid in 2023, and the Spanish club has indicated that they are willing to consider any offers made for the player.

The Italian journalist posted a statement on his YouTube account in which he explained that “His agency, Jorge Mendes, is examining options with clubs.”

“For the time being, conversations are still taking place with Atletico, but his representation is attempting to find a solution.”

“The relationship that we have with [Paris Saint-Germain] is fantastic, and with Chelsea and Manchester United, there are always dialogues; thus, it’s natural now to investigate the market.”

Romano did mention that there is currently nothing advanced with any of these clubs, but he emphasized that this is not the case.

Reportedly, Atletico Madrid will want more than €100 million (£86 million) for the Portugal international midfielder, despite the fact that the club has spent €120 million on the player in 2019.

It’s up for debate whether or not Felix is worth the asking amount, but there’s no denying that the player formerly with Benfica has a lot of promise.

This season, he has already tallied three goals and three assists in a total of twelve games (five of which were starts) in La Liga. Additionally, he has tallied one goal and two assists for Portugal in the 2022 World Cup.
