Edson Alvarez, who plays for Mexico at the international level and is a midfielder, has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Give Me Sport claims to have obtained information indicating that Chelsea made an attempt to sign the player during the summer transfer window; however, the deal did not go through.

The player, who is now 25 years old, has not given up on his dream of joining the Blues, and he is currently waiting for Chelsea to make an offer for him to sign with the club.

In an interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Simon Phillips divulged the information that the 25-year-old player is now awaiting an approach from a Premier League club.

In a conversation with GMS, he shared the following information: “I’m told that there’s still hesitant interest from Chelsea’s side in Alvarez. Clearly, they made an effort to sign him on the final day of the summer signing period. He was quite keen to go. At one point, it appeared as though Ajax would accept our offer; nevertheless, in the end, they did not.

Because it was so near to the deadline and they were unable to find a suitable replacement for him, they informed him that he would need to remain in his position. He was dissatisfied with the outcome, and he is currently anticipating that Chelsea will make another offer for him in the month of January.

It is not a secret that Chelsea will need to acquire a central midfielder in the following windows, and Alvarez has the potential to become a valuable long-term addition to the team if they make the move to sign him.

It’s possible that the defensive midfielder for Ajax could be the best long-term option to replace N’Golo Kanté.
